Ben Rolfe develops and researches serious games and playful systems. After coordinating the creation of Australia’s first Bachelor of Serious Games at the University of the Sunshine Coast, Ben recently launched his own indie studio, Ecoludology. He recently released Orbit, and is currently working on his doctoral game, The Painted Forest.
Dakoda Barker is a games critic and designer, who works as a teacher and academic at the University of the Sunshine Coast. As part of his doctoral research, he is currently working on a collection of games that represent chronic health conditions in a variety of ways. He holds a Master’s degree in Writing, Editing, and Publishing, and enjoys calling himself a ‘master of words’. His writing has been published online at Kill Screen, PC & Tech Authority, and Impulse Gamer, and in print with Hyper and PC Powerplay. He really loves sushi.
Alayna Cole is a writer, designer, and academic, who teaches game design and interactive narrative at the University of the Sunshine Coast. She founded Queerly Represent Me—a database and resource hub about games that feature queer perspectives—and is currently conducting research into queer representation as part of her doctorate. Alayna co-founded Horned Llama Studio and also develops games independently.
Katryna Starks designed the Interactive Narrative minor within the Bachelor of Serious Games at the University of the Sunshine Coast and currently lectures within the program. Her doctoral research focuses on how narrative within games effects identification, self-efficacy, and agency in adolescent and young adult females. She also holds a Master’s degree in Psychology with a focus on how video games can foster health-promoting behaviors.
